    Name Correction

    Perla Cantu-Arroyo · 2 · Last reply by Zac

Hello, I recently noticed that I am listed on the Miel San Marcos album "Pentecostés" from 2017 as Perla "Canta" under voices. My correct name is Perla Cantu-Arroyo. You will find me under "Composer" for Claudia Lozoya's album "Se que me amas". I would highly appreciate if this correction could be made. Thank you so much!

Peru Negro Crediting error for Executive Producer

Kazomike · 1 · Last reply by Zac

Hello. I really appreciate your website and all you have done for us. I am writing again to correct the artist notes for Peru Negro Jolglorio and Peru Negro's Zamba Malato. As I have pointed out before, Michael Corbett is a very common name. You currently listed Executive Producer correctly as Michael Corbett (myself). However, you have merged me with another gentleman of the same name. Kindly remove the Album/Artist/Credit  of Look Around, Mr. Flood's Party and Six Months in Confession, as I did not work on those albums. Thank you

New Releases on newsletter not featured on website

rootsmusic · 1 · Last reply by Zac

In the New Releases newsletter for July 3, 2020, the newsletter starts by featuring new releases from HAIM and CeeLo Green.  Why aren't either new release featured on the page for new releases?  Thanks.

P.S. Helprace supports keyword tagging but doesn't support in-line images (so screenshot attached).

    Nashville covers Spaghetti Westerns

Other Lives is not from Nebraska

Brandon Gilbrech · 1 · Last reply by Zac

In your review of Other Lives' For Their Love you list them as a Nebraska based band, which is wrong on two counts. They're currently based in Oregon, but they started in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Year of release missing for Cigar album

Derrick Pohl · 1 · Last reply by Zac

The Xavier Cugat album "Twist with Cugat" has no indication of the year of recording or release. That's not uncommon on allmusic, except there's so much other info on the album, quite detailed, that the absence of the year is weird and might be a glitch/typo that could be readily fixed. You might want to take a look

    Negative Reviews and Biased Commentary

    Phoenix DaRonco · 0 · Posted

While music journalists are known as critics, they are also viewed as guides for musical history, biographies, music personnel and new releases. However, these guides become pretentious, snobby and biased when focused on negative reviews, even the chief editor. They will give perfect ratings to certain albums, but will rip others to shreds, often for the smallest things. One album is praised for being inspired by a previous work, while the other is slammed for the same reason. The reason why I'm concerned about this is because rather than being informative, negative reviews are entirely opinion-based and only cater to

Pop up ads making site unusable

Aaron Hyde · 4 · Last reply by Aaron Hyde

I visited the site for the first time in a while, hoping I might be able to use it more regularly fore tracking and reviewing music. Your pop-up ads (especially the side banners you can't get rid of) on mobile and even on my laptop mean if I see AllMusic as a suggested site, I'll avoid it. The below is supposedly a music website:

  • Brave New Worlds - Updates to AllMusic

Zac · 21 · Last reply by Black Dragon

The internet is a rapidly-changing place and since our most recent updates to the design of AllMusic were in 2013, we've needed to make some upgrades to the layout and functionality of the site. We hope that they are seen as improvements (but let's face it, we've been through multiple times over the decades and nobody likes change).

The primary change you'll see is that the ways to navigate within pages has changed (or rather changed back, in some ways). Now you can jump to the artist's discography, credits, awards or other information by using the links that are pinned

"David Roberts Live!" not related to David Roberts who issued "All Dressed Up" in 1982

    Mario Pohl · 0 · Posted

Hello, the record "David Roberts Live!" for sure is not related to David Roberts who issued "All Dressed Up" in 1982. Canadian singer David Roberts recently issued further recordings via an Japanese record company, reissued in 2011 by a German record company. Thanks!

  • Sound Samples No Longer Available on AllMusic

Zac · 3 · Last reply by Zac

Unfortunately our data provider is no longer making the 30-second sound clips of songs available to us.

It was a huge undertaking to rip the music clips from physical and digital sources, and then to host and deliver those clips (in multiple formats). They've determined that while the feature was appreciated, they could no longer support the business case of providing it as a product.

We understand that this was an important part of exploring and discovering music on the site and we're investigating other partnerships to try to bring the sound clips or streaming options back.

  • great coverage of underrepresented voices

    rootsmusic · 0 · Posted

Since discovering a monumental boxset decades ago, I've been keeping an ear out for underrepresented voices in country music.  While not the only voice that has been historically underrepresented, finally black country artists are breaking through to a wider audience thanks to renewed attention.  The renewed attention came fortuitously because a supportive community has already been coalescing around emerging black artists, as documented by a recent documentary.

I'm not counted among fans of that community yet.  But I do give them a chance, because their music doesn't sound like commercial radio.  After sampling a track though, very few have impressed me

I have been using AllMusic for a lot of years - must be 20+ years. It is such a valuable resource for those of us who have a "slight" music addiction. Just want to say a huge well done to the team behind AllMusic. I have recently not had access to AllMusic for two months and it made me fully aware how much I rely on it/need it. I personally would be happy to pay more for my subscription than I am currently paying. And a shout out to Michael Erlewine of course! BNtw I remember all those years ago (in

There seems to be an ongoing issue within the Chrome browser. A lot of other sites and services are dealing with the same problem.   It seems to be an issue with how Chrome handles cookies. When the amount of data stored in cookies gets overloaded, the browser bombs.   Hopefully Chrome can figure out a better solution, but in the meantime this page has a good

    rootsmusic · 2 · Last reply by E.M.M

I've been finding fewer out-of-date bios.  I'm also happy with the compromise to insert editorial blurbs about albums into a bio, rather than on an album page.  For example, Shannon McNally's bio briefly mentions that "Small Town Talk (Songs of Bobby Charles) proved to be another career highlight".

When I see "Our Favorite Albums," I'm instantly interested in seeing what you liked most --- whereas when quote-unquote Critics proclaim "The BEST Records," all I can think is, "Who the hell are you to say?"
