Brave New Worlds - Updates to AllMusic
The internet is a rapidly-changing place and since our most recent updates to the design of AllMusic were in 2013, we've needed to make some upgrades to the layout and functionality of the site. We hope that they are seen as improvements (but let's face it, we've been through multiple times over the decades and nobody likes change).
The primary change you'll see is that the ways to navigate within pages has changed (or rather changed back, in some ways). Now you can jump to the artist's discography, credits, awards or other information by using the links that are pinned

Sound Samples No Longer Available on AllMusic
Unfortunately our data provider is no longer making the 30-second sound clips of songs available to us.
It was a huge undertaking to rip the music clips from physical and digital sources, and then to host and deliver those clips (in multiple formats). They've determined that while the feature was appreciated, they could no longer support the business case of providing it as a product.
We understand that this was an important part of exploring and discovering music on the site and we're investigating other partnerships to try to bring the sound clips or streaming options back.

Issues with "400 bad request" in Chrome Browser
We've been getting reports of users not being able to visit the site because they are getting a 400 Error: This Page Isn't Working. If the problem continues, contact the site owner.
There seems to be an ongoing issue within the Chrome browser. A lot of other sites and services are dealing with the same problem. It seems to be an issue with how Chrome handles cookies. When the amount of data stored in cookies gets overloaded, the browser bombs. Hopefully Chrome can figure out a better solution, but in the meantime this page has a good

Welcome to the New AllMusic User Portal
Welcome to our brand-new user portal! For years we were using another service but they are shutting down so this is the place where you can submit requests, ask a question or share your ideas in our community. You can report problems or give praise, too!

Support AllMusic and Go Ad-Free!
The internet is a very different place now than it was in 1991 when AllMusic first came online. The methods of keeping a free website in business have changed, involving more technologically advanced advertisements that can be seen as intrusive to the browsing experience. Additionally, the methods that ad technologies use to serve up relevant ads can slow down a website by placing dozens of calls to multiple services before finally loading the page. We recognize this and would like to offer an alternative. At AllMusic, we pride ourselves on being the in-depth music information resource for audiophiles, researchers,

Improved Song Pages on AllMusic
Archival Post from 2017:
One of the things that has always been a challenge when dealing with a database of tens of millions of tracks is the best way to present that information. In the past we've been displaying "Track-based" information (a Track being defined as an instance of a song as recorded and indexed on each individual recorded release). The track "Wonderwall" as written by Noel Gallagher and performed by Oasis released as the third track on (What's the Story) Morning Glory CD in 1995, and a separate instance of the track "Wonderwall" as written by Noel Gallagher and

Exact Match in Search Results
An archival post from 2017:
Many of our users have asked for more exact results in search and we've recently rolled out some functionality that enables exact string matches on AllMusic. By putting your word or string in quotes, we try to find the exact match within search results, and from there you can refine further by filtering by artist, album, song, composition, label or article. Searching for the term Rolling Stones finds thousands of results (some referencing just Rolling, some mentioning the word Stones):
but wrapping "Rolling Stones" in quotes, it only returns 44 results containing that exact

Birthdates, Birthplaces, Death Dates and Death Places on AllMusic
Archival post from 2017: We've recently launched a new feature to link the birthdates, birthplaces, death dates and death places of musicians and bands, and displaying other artists who were born/formed or died/disbanded in those places and on those dates. New AllMusic Feature - Song Reviews and Song Favorites
Archival Post from 2018: We're glad to announce a pair of new features on AllMusic to allow music fans to contribute more insight and personalization to the song information on the site. Song Reviews We've seen a lot of users sharing their knowledge and perspective by writing album reviews on AllMusic and we wanted to extend that same capability to our song pages. Now music fans can fill in some of the holes and share their opinions about the songs they love, simply by searching for a track title or clicking a song within an album's tracklist to visit the

AllMusic Roundup iOS App for iPhone and iPad on Hiatus
Archival Post from 2016: We're sorry to say that we're pulling the AllMusic Roundup iOS app out of the app store and discontinuing its availability. The cost associated with licensing the information that gets displayed there was not offset by the advertising revenue we could make in the app, so it needs to be shut down. In a nutshell, it was costing us many times more to license the music information than we made in money from the ads displayed. We couldn't afford to lose money on it anymore. You can still access AllMusic on your device by going to

New AllMusic Feature: Personalized New Release Notifications
Archival Post from 2014:
We know how tough it is to keep up on when new albums get released. Local record shops are becoming an endangered species and many of us miss that feeling of walking in and having the clerk say "Oh hey, I know you like The Velvet Underground so I stashed this reissue behind the counter for you."
We wanted to enable our friends to keep track of the albums that come out each week by their favorite artists, so we built a way to be a bit more like that clerk behind the counter. Maybe a

AllMusic Advanced Album Filtering
Archival Post from 2013
For a while now, AllMusic fans have been asking for a method to be able to sort and filter all of the different albums in our collection based on different criteria and requirements. We're proud to announce the AllMusic Advanced Album Search
You can get to Advanced Search at the top of each page.
Once there, you can use the filters on the left to select from the following characteristics:
- Genres - The broad overall classification of the music on the album.
- Styles - The more specific type of music on the album.
- Release Date (or
