    Credit correction

The Peter & Gordon song "Woman" is credited to Bill "Boogie Bill" Webb rather than Bernard Webb (a.k.a. Paul McCartney).

    collaboration recording type

rootsmusic · 1 · Last reply by Zac

I usually find collaboration records to be interesting.  So I'm suggesting collaborations as a Recording Type.  If the Recording Type doesn't already exist, then collaborations can be identified when credits include more than one Primary Artist.  Thanks.

Let's talk about Eurodance and a subgenre called "Bubblegum dance"

ElectroGhost · 1 · Last reply by Zac

I've always been confused by the "Eurodance" genre. There are some things I don't understand.

When I listen to Eurodance songs from the beginning (90's), Eurodance sounds like Italo House. Then, I looked at the naming history of Eurodance. Eurodance became known in the mid 90's, when Corona released "The Rhythm of the Night". Then I listened to the song, and it sounded like... Europop?

Some press sites and music services are also confused by this genre. Most common people think that Eurodance is Europop!

Also, from this Eurodance came a mixed genre called "Bubblegum dance", a mixed genre of

Can Eden Ahbez’s bio be replaced by a less biased one?

Erik Erickson · 2 · Last reply by Erik Erickson

The bio for Eden Ahbez directly insults his entire style of music. The author, Richie Unterberger, is seemingly an expert in rock music but not jazz or Exotica. Is it possible to replace it with something less biased against the musician and by a more qualified author?

    Relevant excerpts from the bio:

“Ahbez's modern stature rests on a 1960 album that mixed exotica album and beatnik poetry. It rates as one of the goofiest efforts in the goofy exotica genre -- and brother, that's saying something, given the stiff competition.”

    and:

“That doesn't mean that his desert-island paradise trip doesn't

    John Grant, Nas and Turnstile

Matski · 2 · Last reply by Matski

Hi Zac and the rest of the forum team. Could you find out from the editorial team if there are any plans to review these recent releases:

    1. John Grant - Boy from Michigan Surprised that it hasn't been reviewed yet, considering Grant is well-known and there are reviews for all his previous albums. As the vinyl version has just been released, it might be that a review is currently underway. It wouldn't be the first time I've posted a request and a review was uploaded the next day. Just in case there isn't one in the works, please let

    alphabetization

rootsmusic · 5 · Last reply by Zac

When I alphabetically sort album titles at https://www.allmusic.com/artist/cleopatra-mn0000818011, why does it divide the albums into two sets?  It's as if there's a maximum number of records that can be sorted in a single set, so it needs to separately sort the remaining records.  (See screenshot of where the remaining records are sorted as a separate set.)

    release date

rootsmusic · 1 · Last reply by Zac

"Ever Call Ready" has an original release date in 1985, and its releases has a single CD released in 2021.  That release's catalog number matches its cover art, but the cover art's copyright was 2006.  So which year is the release?

P.S. the editor was mostly right in noting that "The self-titled, sole album by Ever Call Ready is sometimes variously attributed in discographies to the musicians on the record," except this wasn't their sole album.  (Why does a release year matter?  Because if it's a new release, then it'd mean the resurrection of the label and the editor's return to Allmusic.)

Why do you ignore K-Pop? Most albums and EPs get ignored, even from the major Korean labels.

    Desoc111 · 1 · Last reply by Zac

It's such a shame K-Pop gets ignored by AllMusic. Most of the major releases (albums, EPs/mini-albums, stand-alone singles, live albums) by my favorites - f(x), Red Velvet, 2ne1, Blackpink, Chung Ha, et al - are unreviewed by AllMusic. I think most who love K-Pop have come to expect this from "Western" media, so they've created their own spaces (Reddit, FB groups, etc.). It's still quite a shame, considering how exciting KPop is.
