How is this website supposed to be used?

    anonymized · 0 · Posted

Since the website has been updated forcing users to disable ad blockers, how is it that others are able to browse the website at all? I'm using Safari 17.3.1 on my desktop. It is literally not possible to use this website now with all the advertisements popping up and causing the web pages to move around on its own.

I understand ads pay for the service and I'm not complaining about that. For the handful of times I use this resource over the year, it's not reasonable of me to pay for a subscription so I'm happy to allow

Linking to an artist page on allmusic.com using just the artist name

Bob Schermerhorn · 1 · Last reply by Zac

    I am writing from interpunk.com.

Is there a way to link to the primary artist page on allmusic.com with a link that involves just the artist name?

For example, let's say I want to link to the Teenage Bottlerocket page. It would be great if I could use this link [with spaces in the artist name replaced with dashes '-']:

    https://www.allmusic.com/artist/teenage-bottlerocket

…but instead of displaying an error page like it does currently, it would be ideal if it would automatically correct the URL of the actual Teenage Bottlerocket page on allmusic.com, which is:

    https://www.allmusic.com/artist/teenage-bottlerocket-mn0000666623

Thank you in advanced for creating

    ad blocker

    Paul R · 5 · Last reply by Zac

Your site is going downhill, unfortunately. It's one of the best resources online but it's now burdened by shoddy design and development. 1) I'm scolded for using an adblocker, but my ad blocker is disabled in the plugin itself, and i've told Safari to disable all contact blockers. 2) Your site has a footer, but uses infinite scroll. This is basically a bad joke in the world of UX / service design. What clowns are you outsourcing to??

    "Staff Picks" extremely annoying

Jan · 1 · Last reply by Zac

Since a couple of days I get spammed with Staff Picks by AllMusic, even without having any subscription, not even a free account! I find this extremely annoying, frightening even, as if AllMusic has turned into a malignant website. I was just considering taking a payed subscription, but will certainly not continue with that now AllMusic has revealed itself as a pushy, impertinent source of information. I will stop using it any further. And then can only hope the spamming will come to an end!

If AllMusic only would be so kind to reply to this complaint, anf explain why

    Deafheaven are 'om'?

Matski · 2 · Last reply by Matski

So they're om now, huh? Kinda of amusing but as far as I'm aware, the band haven't changed their name - see their website. Possibly an error that you may want to look into.

    Ian McNabb

Trent Fordham · 2 · Last reply by Trent Fordham

After The Icicle Works, Ian McNabb has had a very full career.  Hell, he's going to have two albums out in 2024 alone.  Can AllMusic please update his discography (his whole profile for that matter)?

Most of your album reviews are unintelligible, incomprehensible commentaries by inexperienced people.

    M · 0 · Posted

As a 50+ year old lifetime music fan, record buyer, songwriter and musician, I discovered long ago -- The only thing your site is good for is a reference guide for album dates, track listings, and personnel. All of which can be much easier and quickly obtainable through Wikipedia.

Your All Music reviews are mostly uneducated reports written by young people who never followed the band or have no experience with them. Perfect example is Eduardo Rivadavia's review of UFO - Phenomenon (1974) a landmark rock album https://www.allmusic.com/album/phenomenon-mw0000651879

If you surveyed thousands of UFO fans, they would likely tell you

    2024 Album Reviews Request

tv · 71 · Last reply by Zac

Opening this new question for people to request notable albums released this year that they feel merit a review, just to help AllMusic keep track - the final decision will of course be up the editors, whom I'd like to thank in advance for their generally excellent reviews and much-appreciated efforts to keep up!

slide-out ad blocks content on iPad

rootsmusic · 2 · Last reply by Zac

(This isn't the only advertiser whose ad slides out.)  Ads are sliding out to overlay the content on my iPad.  When I scroll up/down, the slide-out ad scrolls along so I can't read what's being overlayed.  The ads also don't have a control to be closed.

Wow what happened to the website? Yesterday about 2pm est.

Mark Green · 14 · Last reply by Mark Green

Takes forever to load pages and look up artists.   The discography?  Forget about it.  Nothing. Did you have some servers go down or what?

Today same problems.   Takes forever to search or load sometimes giving back empty pages.

Review written in full, but still missing rating (6)

Robert Woods · 2 · Last reply by rootsmusic

There are some old reviews that's still unrated, plus some 2023s. Could you fix them for full version, and I got another questions. Is there any chance to review Nas's Magic 3? - That Mexican OT - Lonestar Luchador - Cannibal Corpse - Chaos Horrific - Foo Fighters - The Essential Foo Fighters - Thirty Seconds to Mars - It's the End of the World, But It's a Beautiful Day - Brother Ali - The Truth Is Here - A$AP Mob - Cozy Tapes, Vol. 1: Friends - XXXTentacion - Revenge, XXXTENTACION Presents: Members Only, Vol. 4 - Leona Lewis - Best Kept Secret - Trippie Redd

Why not list the actual players/singers separate from others involved?

greenboy · 2 · Last reply by greenboy

In CREDITS, why not list the actual players/singers separate from others involved? It seems silly to mix in nilly-willy the producers and engineers with the musicians – let alone photographers, designers, hair stylists and any others in lesser ancillary roles. After all, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT THE MUSIC. In other words, CREDITS should more resemble what a good record sleeve used to have, separate categories of involvement – with the MUSICIANS FIRST. Then, below a separating line or whatever, producers & engineers. Then maybe artwork peeps. And forget the hair stylists and the like ;  } Also, since composers

    Saxon albums

    100% JDV · 0 · Posted

The band Saxon is one of the best and most consistent metal bands out there and the albums ''Battering Ram'' , ''Thunderbolt'', ''Inspirations'', ''Carpe Diem'', ''More Inspirations'' and the upcoming ''Hell, Fire And Damnation'' do not have ratings on your website. I hope you could listen to them and review them on the website because i would like that very much, and i think they deserve that because they're so fricking great.
