Thanks again for getting back to me. I know I won't have a problem but I hope you can track this down. It certainly gets in the way of using the site (and allowing me to see the legitimate ads that pay your salaries!). Some of these scammers are very smart. I trust you guys will be smarter!
I tried to reply to your email but it did not go through. Thank you for your reply to my message. I am in Levittown, Long Island, NY. Also, I forgot to mention that although the URL ends in "shop", the pop-up is not a shopping site. It is a flashing, red-and-white message which completely displaces the screen I was on, telling me that my computer is in danger and wants to be scanned by McAfee virus protection (which I don't even have, so it is obviously a scam or phishing). So I doubt it's one of your advertisers. I think it's more than that.

You're right that it isn't one of our direct partners, but that's how this garbage gets in.
We're not intentionally hosting anything with the .shop domain.
We make a call to our advertising partners, and they go through hundreds (if not thousands) of different ads to try to get an ad that fits the requirements for our site.
Any one of these thousands of individual ads might have a bad agent inside of it that launches a phishing site like this.
You have good virus protection, so you are safe, but these kinds of "Sweepstakes Winner" or "Your Computer Is In Danger" phishing page must capture some poor folks who fall for it.
We're working with our advertisers to try to track this down.
Thanks for the detail.
(continuing message) effect. My virus protection (eset) is strong and comprehensive but does not stop it, and scans show no threats. Does anyone know about this?
