It is an ad.

Unfortunately we've needed to move to a more aggressive ad model for many reasons. Detailed here if you're interested: https://allmedianetwork.helprace.com/i8-support-allmusic-and-go-ad-free

We also have a subscription version where users can support AllMusic and get a faster ad-free experience. https://www.allmusic.com/subscribe

I subscribe to Allmusic.  Sometimes I will randomly get a bunch of ads that load.  These cripple the speed of the site.  This past week, I've been constantly getting the "Top Article" pop-up which appears every time I go to a new page.  I don't understand why paid subscriptions are still seeing ads.

The ads were a major problem about a month ago, but they are very infrequent recently.  This "Top Article" pop-up has been persistent for at least the past week.  Could someone please address this issue?  It makes paying for a subscription redundant.

Hi Brian,
We're looking into this now.

When you are seeing that "Top Articles" ad on the page, are all other ads gone?

Is it on every page? Or specific pages (album pages, artist pages, genre pages, etc)?

And are you seeing this on desktop/laptop? Or on a mobile device?

Thank you for looking into it.

After reading your message, I went to the site to get accurate information regarding your question.  To my surprise, the "Top Articles" pop-up was no longer appearing and the only ad that I could see was the Buy or Stream Amazon add under the artist picture.  Not sure if that's an ad or if it's part of the site.

Thank you for your help.

We've recently spent a lot of time trying to avoid the very situation you were mentioning, where when a subscriber first logs in, they may still be served ads on pages they have visited previously. Browsers are very weird animals and hold onto data long after it seems to make sense.

We hope the new changes we're making solves this issue for every subscriber.
