allmusic.com Logo AllMusic would like to send you notifications about albums and artists you might be interested in. (these can be turned off anytime from browser settings)

I've subscribed here for many years, to lend support and and so I avoid ads. Lately every time I use the site I get a pop-up with:
"AllMusic would like to send you notifications about albums and artists you might be interested in.
(these can be turned off anytime from browser settings)"
Followed by two options, dismiss or allow. I do not want to see this pestering request, and I do not want to have to dismiss it every time I use the site. If I wanted push notifications I'd look to opt in, and having dismissed the thing at least a dozen times it's annoying to see it again. Yes I clean out cookies when I shut down my PC, as everyone should.
Cut the bullshit Allmusic!
And why the F, if I am logged into Allmusic, must I log in again to use this forum?
CUT THE BULLSHIT ALLMUSIC!

I have no idea how anyone would presume someone uses Chrome (or any MS software), a really terrible piece of software. Furthermore it's illogical to presume that someone who has written the post I have written does not have his browser set to reject pop-ups etc. which I do. Of course.

Sometimes people fall over themselves to post a solution when it is really just an expression of their limited thinking on an issue. Chrome, really?

Thank you for bothering to reply reasonable carefully. While courteous, you seem to miss the point. I noted I delete the cookies which should indicate to you that I understand that they would prevent the occurrence of the pop-up, ie there was no need to reiterate that.

My point was that; logging in should prevent all ads, including an advertisement for push notifications.

If you want more out of me raise the subscription price and I'll pay it as a loyal subscriber and audiophile with 15,000 albums, who vociferously recommends the site to many other people.

Elements of pestering built into the site pages only generate disloyalty & the sense that "... damn now all music is going downhill."  This is something you might tell the streaming-addicted kids who decided in some office meeting to go down this path.

I appreciate you saying you'll look into it, just as I appreciate your time. Very good thank you.

Thanks for your longtime support and for recommending AllMusic to other people.

We're using this push notification method to try to reach people who may not visit the site as much as you do.

I completely hear your complaint about being notified for something you are not interested in.

To avoid this (even after clearing your browser cookies) you can adjust the notification settings: Chrome > Settings > Content > Notificatins.

Setting this default behavior to 'Don't allow sites to send notifications,' should do the trick.

Here is the response:

By clearing his cookies, he's removing the piece that tells us not to trigger the opt-in flow. Normally, when a user selects 'block' we don't show them the prompt again.

He can go into his browser settings to adjust the notification settings: Chrome > Settings > Content > Notifications.

Setting this default behavior to 'Don't allow sites to send notifications,' should do the trick, and he should no longer see the opt-in flow even if he clears his cookies.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for pointing this out. The continued notification isn’t how that is supposed to work,. This is not an Ad, it’s more so we can push current events, new releases, or buried treasures for people to see.

We are working with a notification company that allows us to push out interesting articles / items to users a few times a day, but ideally it should honor the disallow request (even if cookies are deleted). We are following up with them.
