    Nothing But Thieves?

tv · 1 · Last reply by tv

Here's a band whose albums have been rated by hundreds of users without ever receiving attention from your reviewers. I'd love to hear what they think. :)

    API Access / Soundiiz

    SpotifyThrowbacks · 0 · Posted

    Hi,

I use a website called "Soundiiz" to migrate/convert playlists between streaming services. I was told that you don't have an API available that would allow Soundiiz to add you to their list of playlist/album resources. I STRONGLY suggest that you consider offering an API, as in the age of streaming, it's all about playlists. And since you offer album recommendations, Soundiiz would be a great companion. PLEASE consider offering this, so that Soundiiz users can easily incorporate our saved albums here to Soundiiz.  https://soundiiz.com/

    Thanks

    Spotify Links

SpotifyThrowbacks · 2 · Last reply by Zac

Why do you offer so little Spotify links? Spotify is the most used. No one thinks about Amazon music, their collection nowhere near matches Spotify. Are you trying to force your users to purchase an Amazon music subscription? Is that it?

    Missing Thea Gilmore album?

Mark Skinner · 2 · Last reply by Mark Skinner

I'm wondering why a key album from Thea Gilmore's catalogue is missing - 'Don't Stop Singing', a beautiful collection of songs combining Thea's music with the words of Sandy Denny. It seems strange if it is an oversight but if there is a legal reason for it being left out then it would be good to know.

There is an artist with the same name as mine appearing in my artist column

Kevin Purdy · 4 · Last reply by Kevin Purdy

A female artist from the UK also has the Artist name Purdy.

I have been releasing work as Purdy since 1997 here in Australia. My first official release was on a Creative Vibes compilation and have since released six albums and many compilation tracks and remixes. You can see my work here: http://soft-records.blogspot.com/ https://purdy.bandcamp.com/album/in-transit

The UK artist Purdy, started releasing work more recently.

I don't care if she uses the same name, it's just that her releases commonly show up on what should be my releases page.

Is there some way the two artists can have their own releases page

I have an incorrect listing in my credits and am missing a dvd I was the audio producer and surround mixer on. Joel Jaffe

The credit on the Bonnie Raitt album Just like that.

I was the audio engineer for vocal overdubs. Can this be corrected,

I also was the surround mixer and audio post producer on Ringo Starr's All Star band DVD

and I don't see the listing in my credits list.

The new album by Caroline Polachek, whose previous one was favorable reviewed by AllMusic, has received 60 user reviews in 5 weeks, but still no review by an AllMusic editor. Hope that might still be rectified. :)

    song highlights

rootsmusic · 4 · Last reply by Zac

Besides Peter, I didn't know Chicago's lead singers; so I watched a documentary about Terry Kath.  Afterward, I'm searching for recommended songs with his lead vocals because his solo album is about his guitar playing.  On his artist page's songs tab, there's a guitar track, a demo that he composed, and a British trio's reggae track.

However, none of these song highlights were track picks on the respective albums.  So how were these songs selected as highlights?  The British trio is particularly dubious, because they weren't mentioned in his documentary.  Thanks.

    Liturgy Discography

Matski · 1 · Last reply by Matski

Really enjoyed Thom Jurek's recent review of Liturgy's new record, 93696. However, I was left slightly bemused by some of the entries in the act's discography. It seems that a couple of different acts also using the 'Liturgy' name have been merged into their discography:

    1. 'Associated Arts' was actually a one-off record, recorded by a group of musicians, which included Sean Bendickson and Zach Varnell. It was produced by Hilltop Health Ministries. I couldn't find any official website for them, possibly because it was release twenty years ago. Amazon has a statement from  Hilltop Health Ministries' Executive Director Elliot Stockstad, regarding

Oooh La La! - a delightful album by the Crash Test Dummies

In his review of Crash Test Dummies' album "Oooh La La!" (2010), Stephen Thomas Erlewine complains about the Dummies being "constitutionally incapable of playing things straight", saying that Brad Roberts "has an annoying tendency to sound like he's barely suppressing his smirk as he sings, laughing at his own jokes like a hack comedian", and adding "by sounding so delighted with his own cleverness, he undermines the whole shebang". I don't know how well Mr. Erlewine knows Crash Test Dummies, but I think that this is basically just Brad Roberts being himself. It's just part of his personality and the

    Website Runs Too Busy

Louis Toscano · 2 · Last reply by Louis Toscano

This is a Mac Monterey and I had to close out of Firefox.  It looks like somebody designed this site to damage my browser and shut down my OS.  To get to this forum - and in the midst of researching an artist - despite not wanting to login, I had to reopen in Safari.  While in Firefox the popups in the lower left would not X out.  I do not know if you are running scripts; but my cursor turned into a fast-spinning pinwheel.  These are the only two browsers I have.  I switch between one or the other

    unattributed "reviews"

rootsmusic · 1 · Last reply by Zac

When a "review" is unattributed, can I assume that it's written as just a descriptive blurb?  Generally, descriptive blurbs are descriptions that can be gleaned from the liner notes and press junkets.  They don't go into depth about any song, except maybe to mention one was a single.

However, the unattributed review for Mutual Admiration Society seems to be more than a descriptive blurb.  It opines about the songwriting and aesthetic style; comments on the album's "tone and atmosphere"; and concludes that the album is a "quiet, thoughtful collection".  It also doesn't contain any negative critique to justify a rating

I tend to get unreasonably impatient when the star ratings for some new releases take a while to appear online, as they are again this week.

Is this due to some hard-to-solve bug, or what is causing it, if I may ask? :)

new albums by previously highly rated artists

tv · 3 · Last reply by rootsmusic

When an artist's previous album was highly rated, it always sits a bit uneasy with me it the new one isn't even reviewed. So if you don't mind, I'll occasionally post an example of that here, in the hope it might still be remedied. Exhibit one: Conway the Machine's new album 'Won't He Do It'. https://www.allmusic.com/album/wont-he-do-it-mw0003973881
