    Some artists need AllMusic reviews!

    Benoit MORRIER · 0 · Posted

Some artists I love and follow desperately needs some AllMusic love: e.g. IAMX : there is no reason this awesome goth synthpop artist shouldn't get an AllMusic review for each studio album. RPWL: this acclaimed prog rock Pink Floyd spinoff band is putting out excellent albums, but very few AllMusic reviews for some reason.  Pineapple Thief: Another popular prog rock group that deserves a review for all their studio albums...  Hooverphonic: admittedly, this Belgium trip hop trio lost quite a bit of followers when they went the pop route, but their albums still deserve to be reviewed.

Can I voluntarily submit neutral album reviews to AllMusic to have them be approved as AllMusic reviews?

    Ethan S · 1 · Last reply by Zac

I am a student at the University of Texas and I have a strong passion for, quite literally, all musical genres. I was wondering if I could voluntarily send in researched reviews of my own. Specifically, albums with missing reviews to have them checked and submitted by AllMusic or TiVo. I have used the information from AllMusic's database for many years, and I would be delighted to write actual reviews for people to enjoy.

    name correction

    Hi,

I am Jeff "Houndog" Schiller. When I search for that name Jeff Schiller comes up as having one composer credit, for the New Century Sax Quartet. This is correct. When I click on the credits tab however, there are a bunch of albums that I did not participate on. There must be another Jeff Schiller.

The first 5 credits are not me. The first credit that is me is the Art Lillard credit, where I played flute and am also composer. This should also be in the composer tab shouldn't it?

The next 3 credits are not me. The

    Kae/Kate Tempest

Steffen · 1 · Last reply by Zac

I was just searching for "Kate Tempest" and did get no search result. To get to the album review I was looking for I tried the album title instead and so found out that she now wants to be referred to as Kae, which I had no knowledge of. With all respect to this personal decision, I think it is kind of irritating that the whole Tempest-entry is wiped clear of the fact that it was formerly Kate. Still all the body of work to this point is actually credited to Kate Tempest, but the reviews deny any such hint.

    Spencer Williams biography issues.

    Bill Edwards · 0 · Posted

While the information posted on Spencer Williams is what has been widely reported since the 1950s or so, some is inaccurate, due to misinformation from Williams himself. For my continuing series of biographies I did a very deep dive into Spencer going into government and other records and managed to realign his life into something a bit more accurate, including his real birthplace and relationship to Lulu White. Please consider this revision from http://ragpiano.com/comps/swilliams.shtml. I will gladly share additional information and verification on request, but most of it is cited inline in the article. Thanks for your consideration..

Long Pauses on accessing discography page

Joshua Buergel · 3 · Last reply by Joshua Buergel

    Hello,

I'm observing long pauses on loading band pages and discography pages. I'm a subscriber (have been for years), so it doesn't seem to be ad related. I took some network traces, and it seems to be samples.json that is taking a while to load. On three pages I loaded (the pages for Kool & the Gang, Big Black, and the Melvins, and yes, that's quite a trio), samples.json took about 4 seconds to load twice, and then 19s. I've attached screen shots of the network traces here.

    Steve Albini didn’t record Spiderland

Slintrodan · 1 · Last reply by Zac

To whom it may concern : Steve Albini did not record/produce Spiderland, the seminal second album by the legendary band Slint. Although Albini recorded their first album Tweez, Spiderland was produced/recorded by Brian Paulson. You should correct this page. https://www.allmusic.com/artist/steve-albini-mn0000023358/credit

    Sincerely,

I used to be able to copy the album cover art image on allmusic. Now it won't let me. Was this change intentional? Is there a way to copy the image? Thanks.

    Composer credit problem

Scott Fretheim · 4 · Last reply by Scott Fretheim

Why does your search results screen for "This Can't be Love", credit Diana Krall as composer (see attachment Krall basic.png), when the detail screen for the album "Stepping Out", on which the piece appears, credits the composers as Rogers & Hart (see attachment Krall detail.png)?

Basic stuff guys - pretty easy to get it right.

    Incorrect Release Dates

Matski · 2 · Last reply by Matski

Apologies for raising this issue here rather than using the 'submit corrections' section, on the main site. I tried sending this through using those channels a few months ago but there was no response. The original submission was about two incorrect release dates.

The first is for Sufjan Steven's All Delighted People. According to his label, it was first released before 'Age of Adz', on August 20, 2010. [official website source]

The second was Beck's Stereopathetic Soulmanure, which was supposedly released before 'Mellow Gold', on February 22, 1994. As Beck's current website doesn't list the album on it, this source is

    Mouseover text

how to find when the review was posted?

Karo Micha · 3 · Last reply by Karo Micha

hi there, i’m doing some research on albums nominated for Grammy awards since 1999 and I found it difficult to check the date of AllMusic’s reviews. do you maybe know how can I check when the exact review has been posted? as an example I would like to know on which day the review for Jacob Collier’s latest album was posted but it seems this information is nowhere to be found (https://www.allmusic.com/album/djesse-vol-3-mw0003418113 4). or maybe I’m just too dumb to do this… if anyone knows how to check that, please let me know. best, k.

    Incorrect Biography of Lionel Tertis

    Michael · 0 · Posted

While the violist Lionel Tertis certainly was precocious, his limited finances did not oblige him to leave Trinity College at age 13 (imagine when he would have had to have enrolled to have this befall him at 13). I've just finished reading his autobiography My Viola and I and this is a mixing up of when he left the nest of his parents home and when he enrolled in higher education. Tertis left home at 13 and began raising money performing in ensembles as a pianist. He saves up enough money to enroll at Trinity College at 16. Then after

Question about metadata on song pages

Christian · 3 · Last reply by Christian

    Hello guys,

I have a question regarding the song pages. I'm aware that you group the songs ("Performance" in your wording) by title, composers and artists.

So, when I update, say, a genre on one of your song pages, other song pages with the same song but small differences in the title or different composers are not updated. Of course, it's clear why this happens.

Now I'm wondering why genres, styles, moods, and themes are exactly the same for "different" songs although my updates are not applied to them.

    Here is an example: (1) https://www.allmusic.com/song/never-get-out-of-these-blues-alive-mt0015185670 (2) https://www.allmusic.com/song/ill-never-get-out-of-these-blues-alive-mt0000160425

    Incorrect composer information

"What Kind of Love is This?" incorrectly lists Graham Nash as the composer when in fact it was Johnny Nash. This is incorrect on several album listings.
