It is disappointing to see that All Music engages in censorship

It is disappointing to see that All Music engages in censorship.

In response to the review of Ryan Adams new album in which the reviewer didn't actually discuss the merits of the record but instead focused on the controversy surrounding the artist, I wrote the following:

”Well, that is an embarrassing non-review by All Music. I get it: Ryan Adams is a creep. But you know what? Many if not most artists are creeps. Is All Music going to go back and down review records put out by Jerry Lee Lewis? Led Zepplin? Phil Spector?

Wednesdays is a fascinating and very introspective collection of songs by an artist on the outs. Many of the songs are achingly beautiful both in their composition and performance. Is Ryan Adams capable of growth as a person? We might find out. But Wednesdays show him growing as an artist. Those who are interested in such things should check this album out.”

All Music deleted the first paragraph.

It was fair (and quite obvious) criticism.

Do better All Music. And support the free exchange of ideas.

So, what other factors besides the quality of the music does Allmusic factor in when reviewing albums? Do you go easy on artists you like?

Cargocoffee, I usually don't waste my time reviewing albums I don't like, therefore I usually end up reviewing 4-5 star albums IMHO. My main reason for this, is that there is so much hate and negativity in America these past four years, I'd rather accentuate the positive and bypass the negative. This may appear biased, buy my time is valuable too (I volunteer in a medical program for the university here in Las Vegas also), so I don't like to waste time ripping bad LPs, when there are so many good ones out there to praise. I nearly died in 2019 from a heart transplant called a ROSS Procedure, and have learned to keep gratitude and bring back the word "WE" (Arcade Fire) back in our great country of the United States of America, and bring back unity and positivity also. Pax and Cheers! Murf

My idea can address your complaint about editor reviews.

There is also a great deal of "gaslighting and trolling" happening that is quite obvious on the latest Ryan Adams album, "Big Colors" as Al King is the obvious candidate for this occurrance here. My logical assumption? He show up two months after my post and all of a sudden I've got 4 thumbs down. (Please read my review and let me know if there was anything that deserves this). A 18 yr old, Kenneth Brigham and A Perfect Note are the other obvious culprits on other posts of mine as well. I hope that Allmusic.com is watching and waiting with their IT department to weed out hate and destruction on their site as well. We need vigilance and unity to make Allmusic.com better for everyone, and above all network safety and security too. Does everyone agree? Cheers and Kudos for Zac and others who help to secure our needs here to continue. Maybe we should have an understanding who creates these flame wars by IDing who "thumbs" up or down only once, and maybe a feedback posting for corrections and rapport between reviewers would be in order? Is there anything wrong with this concept? Please let us know. I am at your service to help in any way. Pax, Murf
