Wow. No foolin'

We'll ask for this to be removed and see if the data team can find the appropriate cover.

Zac, I've long disagreed with your opposition to accepting release-level data from users.  I reported an example where only the artist name was correctly inputted, because I believe that Xperi's data-entry isn't significantly more accurate than those contributed to Discogs.  If data-entry is overwhelming resources, then there are ways to validate the same release-level contribution by double-checking against multiple user (sources).

We definitely see value in contributions from users, but we simply don't currently have the bandwidth to validate and manage that level of individual user input. I spend a lot of my time monitoring the user review input and removing spam users who create Public Profile accounts to try to sell garage doors in Texas, not to mention intercepting and dealing with image copyright complaints and issues.

If we did create a mechanism for end users to create artist or album entries, upload their own information, add images and tracks, it would greatly increase the need for monitoring and moderation, which we simply don't have the personnel on staff to manage.

Thanks for your message. I understand your problem. If only everyone would play nicely. With the sort of things I've been reporting, they do fall into the "put it on the list" category. You guys often have bigger fish to fry, I get that. I'm never gonna be sat on the edge of my seat, drumming my fingers saying "why haven't they sorted it out already?".

I love AllMusic, I have the 2nd & 3rd print editions of your guide to Rock, and read them a lot. I'm just into my 2nd year of subscribing to get it online without the advertising. For me, you guys set the bar as far as content and level of thoroughness.

I only report things because I know that in an ideal world (cue Isley Brothers) you'd want to fix them.

Very best regards

Philip
