1 star user reviews

User reviews are mostly useful and helpful. However, I see way too many 1/2 start or 1 star review for albums that have average critic and user reviews of four stars or higher. Why do you allow those when clearly these people have agendas against the artist or genre and very likely didn't even listen to the album? You should at least require they explain themselves instead of one sentence comments. The latest I saw was Jessie Ware/That feels good, but there are many examples.

Many users simply like to give a star rating to albums without going to the length of writing a review.

For example, The Beatles' Abbey Road has over 11,000 user ratings. I feel as though if we also required users to write a full, multi-sentence review far fewer people would participate.

I'm not talking about everyone who rates an album with a chosen star rating to be required provide a review. My point was those who want to trash an album with a one star rating (using your user review feature) should back it up.

On that we agree!

C'mon users, if you hate an album, at least let us know why!

I don't trust the user ratings on here, but the number of users who rate an album is an indicator of its popularity.  I trust IMDb's weighted average of user ratings.
