Display problems

Problem 1: The website new layout has its advantages, but also it made worse some aspects. For instance, everytime the "Collection" (inside users profile) is accessed, the standard display is "Your Rating (Highest to Lowest)". Although we have the option to change to other formats, every time you go back to Collection you need to set it again, this is very annoying. Personally, I like to see "Artist name (A-Z), but every time I need to change it back. Same thing happens in other sections are accessed, like "Ratings".

Problem 2: When editing a list (also in user profile), the albums cover disappear, making it harder to find the album you are looking for.

Suggestion 1: There should be a setting option, where you put your display preferences, and it is set for good, no need to do it every time. Or at least there shouldn´t be a default display, so every time you altered it, it retained your last alteration.

Suggestion 2: Since I (and I imagine many other people) prefer the old website layout, there could be an option to maintain the old one.

Suggestion 2: Maintain the album covers when editing lists

Hi Bruno,

Here are some responses to your well-laid out questions:

Problem 1: Website defaults to standard sorting when you return to Collection and Ratings

I understand your complaint and your request. It can be challenging to set individual preferences for individual users across multiple pages and multiple options. When we do that, we use Cookies to capture your last state or your individual preference, so the page shows up as you expect it. However, adding multiple cookies across a user's sessions can cause issues with browsers. Additionally, many browsers may delete or purge your cookies after a certain time, so if you had previously set your preferences and then came back and they were no longer set, that can cause user confusion.

In the previous design, we had a cookie setting allowing users to default to expanded views of the bios and reviews, or collapsed views, but we often dealt with feedback from users when it didn't load properly or the cookie had been cleared.

We opted to try to keep the experience as light and consistent as we could in the case of the user profile, so that even if you aren't seeing the previous view you set, it is a consistent experience and view each time.

We may be able to create something within the user settings that would allow users to set them individually, but that may be a lower priority feature for our dev team.

Problem 2: Covers disappear when editing a list.

When designing the page, we liked the consistent visual layout of having images on the far right side when displaying a list, and showing the delete button in that spot when editing a list. I'll bring this suggestion to our designer and see if there is a good way to keep the album images visible while still making room for the delete button.

Thanks.
