ad blocker

Your site is going downhill, unfortunately. It's one of the best resources online but it's now burdened by shoddy design and development. 1) I'm scolded for using an adblocker, but my ad blocker is disabled in the plugin itself, and i've told Safari to disable all contact blockers. 2) Your site has a footer, but uses infinite scroll. This is basically a bad joke in the world of UX / service design. What clowns are you outsourcing to??

Hi Paul.

Sorry the Adblock screen is coming up for you.
Many users may have something like Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection enabled, or even something at the DNS level that they may not have enabled themselves.

We offer a page to users to possibly see if the issue can be easily resolved by them.

I would ask what browser you are using but you already told me it was Safari.
I would ask if the browser is up-to-date but I made an assumption that since you are very aware of disabling adblockers and content blockers, I gave you the benefit of the doubt and assumed your Safari and Mac OS were current.

We'd love to help solve the adblock screen incorrectly launching when you have adblock disabled.

Would you be willing to share a screenshot of the page with the adblock screen loaded, and then a screenshot of the page after clicking "continue on AllMusic" at the bottom of the adblock screen?

Also, can you go to this page and send us the URL it creates for you (next to the green button that says "Copy")

Zac, I'm going to give you some hints about how to do your job.

At least, if  you are tyring to be a customer service person, or a user experience person. You would ask questions, like, "what OS are you using?" and "what browser and what version are you using?" etc.

And then you figure out why the site is broken for this person, even it's not broken for you.

Contrast this with assuming that the user with is 1) incorrect, 2) stupid, 3) confused about how the web works.

Some of your users actually build websites, or work in UX at very successful companies! You never know! Best to give the benefit of the doubt.

Here is the footer on the homepage:

I can't believe you're making excuses. Infinite scroll is indeed used by many sites ... but not with a footer. Go to your home page and try to use the footer.

"Clearly our adblock detection is finding something ti feels is blocking our ability to run ads ..."

This is your adblock detection's problem. It's getting false positives. It's fucking broken. Don't blame the user for your fails.

Hi Paul,

Clearly our adblock detection is finding something it feels is blocking our ability to run ads on the site.

This page may be helpful in finding out what may be triggering the screen: https://www.allmusic.com/ad-blocker-help

In regards to infinite scroll, our homepage and search pages use infinite scroll (with a Read More link after a certain point), a method used by many other sites out there. All of our other pages use a standard layout with a static footer.
