Look at the albums i've rated.. the music in my collections, the lists of my favs.   Now...I've gone from getting recommendations from bands/singers. i do not like what so ever.. Zappa, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, (all 20+ albums from each of them) along with every blues guitarist from pre 70 AND now Disney, Muppet movie soundtracks..... with no way to cancel/skip rating them to move on to something rellavent or something new i might even enjoy..... i would like to learn about a new band or singer....  Which i know is hard to do when you have been listening to music for 40+ years avidly.. Is there a better way?

I like ROCK...  from Ac/Dc to Queens of the Stone Age.  but i'm getting recommenedations from mostly blues artist, etc.  I finally started to rate some of the stuff i don''t listen to or have'nt hear of to get rid of the recommendations.  i will get 60 recommendations and 1 or 2 albums that i even know.  I have over 7,000 albums in my itunes.  thanks.

Zac is right on many levels here Terry; you've got to give your focus on certain genres you see. Being somewhat all over the place myself (I like many different and cutting edge genres), I often lose focus on what I feel like at any given moment. Good luck in picking a genre, time span, vocals or instrumentals, pop or hard rock, and many other esoteric and ambiguous choices. But choices they are, and Zac can help you target them hopefully. Hang in there buddy, we are all here (to hear) different music, for different peoples at different times. Cheers, Murf

The recommendations are built off of the albums you've rated, particularly trying to match the genres and styles of albums you've rated highly.

If you assign album ratings to the albums you love, you should receive albums in similar genres and styles.

Can you give us some examples of albums you've gotten as incorrect recommendations?
And maybe a little more about the music you listen to?
Do you have a public profile on AllMusic?

We can take a look and see what is happening.
