Ads refresh constantly scrolling the page upward causes the user to lose their place while reading.

I understand that ad revenue is necessary to provide this useful site. That said, the way it is implemented makes the site nearly impossible to use at times. Surely, management could improve this situation.

I hear you Zac. It's just that the webpages are not set up to handle the ads that exist there now. It's one thing to see ads and occasionally have to close something which distracts you from reading; it's another when the page scrolls up or down multiple times, so you lose your place. That at least could be fixed. I think a good web team can coordinate the changing elements in a way that doesn't move the text out of sight.

Thanks for your honest feedback.

If it were up to us we would just have static ads in out-of-the-way locations but the reality of the situation is that those kinds of ads don't pay enough to keep the site going.

There are dozens of even more intrusive and jarring ad units (gliders, sliders, accelerometers, launchpads, toggleskins, tophats, suitcase ads, text-based ads, slideshows, sponsored search results, etc etc) that we have passed on because they are even more disruptive to the browsing experience.

We honestly try to place enough ads to keep the site running, and the type of ads that enable this are the kinds of ads you see on AllMusic now.

We also have a subscription version where users can support AllMusic and get a faster ad-free experience. https://www.allmusic.com/subscribe

I appreciate that. The site is pretty buggy.

This is something we're actively looking to improve.
